Why Does It Seem That My Words Are Not in Sync with My Lips?
When only 2 participants are connected (see left picture below), you see yourself in the local cam view without any delay and the video/audio is directly connected between both participants via the eyeson cloud service (SFU mode).
With the eyeson group video calls with more than 2 participants, all participants shown are present in the same video and audio stream (see right picture below). The audio and video streams are sent to our server and mixed into one single stream before distributed to all participants (MCU mode).
When you are looking at your own video image at your desktop, mobile phone or tablet in this case, you see yourself in the video which has already been sent to the server and received back from there while you are listening to your own voice in the moment you are talking. This can give you the feeling that your voice is not in sync with the video.
Don't worry though - your voice is EXACTLY in sync with your video for all participants in the meeting. What we do for you is filtering out your voice for your client.
This means that when you hear yourself talking, you are receiving the video actually a bit delayed (less than half a second). However, the audio is not received at all delayed from the server.
This is an effect of the Single Stream Technology and specific for eyeson group calls. Other systems show during group video calls only your local cam preview while eyeson shows your real transmitted video which has already passed the server.
We are proud to be able to serve you with our patented single stream technology which makes it possible to switch between MCU and SFU. eyeson automatically switches between MCU mode and SFU mode depending on the number of participants connected. This is how we make sure to minimize the bandwith even for bigger group calls.
